. At 132 pounds, Glade Harman has built a wrestling career that reflects more than just talentโit’s the product of relentless effort, a love for the grind, and a deep respect for the sport. After 14 years on the mat, Glade has etched his name into Utah wrestling history as the 2024 State Champion, a four-time state placer, and a three-time state finalist. His finishesโ3rd, 2nd, 1st, and 2ndโspeak to both his consistency and elite ability. Along the way, he has earned a reputation as a fierce competitor with national recognition, including being a three-time High School All-American, placing 5th at Reno Worlds, 6th at Iowa Preseason Nationals, and 7th at the NHSCA Virginia Beach Nationals. Among his many accolades, Glade is also a two-time divisional champion, Utah Freestyle State Champion, Junior High Triple Crown winner, and the recipient of the prestigious 2025 Man in the Glass award. A memorable highlight in his career includes throwing Bo Bassett for four points in Greco at the U.S. Openโa moment that still gets talked about in wrestling circles.
Gladeโs signature movesโthe sweep single, arm bar with a half, and headlockโare a reflection of both precision and power. When asked about his proudest moment, he points to two: winning the state title and placing at Virginia Beach Nationals. โThey were goals I had really worked hard to accomplish,โ he said. His journey began when he watched his brother wrestle and was encouraged by his dad to give it a try. What started as curiosity turned into a lifelong passion. โThe thing I love most about wrestling is the culture and what it teaches you as a human being,โ Glade shared.
His growth has been shaped by two important role models: Ethen Lofthouse and Grant LaMont. โEthen has worked with me for about 8-9 years. Every practice I learn something new. Grant has helped push me to the next level, especially when things get tough. They never tear you downโthey build you up and make you feel like youโre good at wrestling.โ
Before each match, Glade takes a moment to clear his head and calm his nerves, often taking deep breaths to focus. Itโs that mental discipline that sets him apart. His advice to teammates is simple but powerful: โWhen things get hard, push past the limitsโthatโs when you grow mentally and physically. Trust the process. It takes time to become great. It doesnโt just happen overnight.โ His favorite quote reflects that mindset: โExcuses are for wussesโ โ Spencer Lee.
Off the mat, Glade has a sweet tooth for ice cream and a hidden love for SpongeBob. Few might guess that behind the intense focus and competitive edge is someone who also enjoys the lighthearted things in life. Looking ahead, Glade plans to continue wrestling in college and eventually coach once he has kids of his ownโpassing on the same values and toughness that have made him a standout today.
