. If you’ve ever watched Kevin Hawley step onto the mat, you already know why he is called “Madman”. Competing in the 138-pound weight class, this intense and determined wrestler has quickly made a name for himself in just three years of wrestling—earning the title of State Qualifier and becoming a fierce competitor to watch.
Kevin’s signature move? The “Secret Sauce Throw.” While the details remain, well, secret, the move has become a fan-favorite and a go-to tool in Kevin’s arsenal. But it’s not just technique that defines his performance—it’s grit.
His most memorable match came against Royce Decker, a high-stakes battle where Kevin overcame a 6-point deficit in the first 20 seconds, all while dealing with a split lip from a questionable move. He didn’t just endure—he came back and took control, showing that persistence truly pays off.
And persistence is exactly what drew Kevin to the sport. Initially recruited by Glade Harman, Kevin quickly learned how wrestling rewards mental toughness. “What I love most about wrestling is how important being persistent is,” he says.
His wrestling role model is Ethen Lofthouse, someone he looks up to for his intensity and skill. Kevin’s advice to his teammates is practical and straightforward: “Warm up properly.” And when it comes to pre-match rituals, don’t be surprised to catch him rolling up his socks—a superstition that just might give him the edge.
Off the mat, Kevin’s got a sweet tooth for Pop-Tarts, and when he’s not training, he enjoys surprising people with talents like solving a Rubik’s Cube in just 23 seconds.
Though he hasn’t laid out all his future plans yet, one thing’s for sure—Kevin Hawley is just getting started. With his mindset, passion, and “madman” energy, there’s no doubt he’ll continue turning heads on the wrestling scene.
